Animals Are Our Mission
Cry For Help Rescue is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to rescuing and finding loving homes for animals suffering from abuse, injury, neglect, and abandonment in our community. Our goal is to rescue and place animals into responsible homes where they will be loved and cherished for the rest of their lives. We help educate the public on responsible pet ownership and animal treatment. Rescued animals come from animal control organizations, humane societies, and owner give-up situations within Illinois and Indiana.
Our History
Jean Lazzaro, founder of Cry For Help Rescue, had a vision. After being involved for many years in transporting dogs from high-kill shelters and animal control facilities across various states to safety at receiving shelters and rescues, she decided to establish a 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue with the help of volunteers, fosters, and supporters. We became a 501(c)(3) in August of 2008 and have been striving to rescue as many dogs and cats as we can ever since.
Our Impact
We are a small rescue, but we have rescued thousands of dogs and hundreds of cats. We completely vet all our animals before adoption, conduct home visits, arrange transports and vet appointments, and foster our animals so we can understand what home would be best suited for each animal and family. We get to know them in a home environment and have had great success finding loving forever homes. The animals stay in our care until they find their forever homes — thanks to our incredible volunteers and fosters.
